Good coffee requires good raw material, suitable equipment and expertise, as many people say. However, many tend to overlook one of the most important ingredients: cleanliness. Fine espresso can only be made with clean tools and accessories. Neglected equipment can make fine coffee taste rancid and oily. We spend a lot of money on good raw materials and equipment, and we also train ourselves, but this one factor can make all of that worthless.
This was recognized by the Italian company Asachimici, which has been present on the market with its cleaning products under the PulyCaff brand name since 1961. Today they offer a complete solution for cleaning coffee equipment, whether the surface comes into contact with coffee or milk. Cleaning portafilter espresso machines, automatic machines and filter coffee machines is not a problem either.
Since its establishment in 1960, Asachimici has worked with numerous well-known international coffee machine manufacturers so that its products can be continuously developed. In line with many Italian companies operating in other industries, they place extremely strong emphasis on innovation.
The manufacturer's products also have international NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) certification. This is a non-profit public health and food-safety organization whose activities include product testing and issuing certificates.
The PulyCaff powder is designed for cleaning surfaces that come into contact with coffee. It removes deposited coffee oils and other contaminants.
It can be used for the following cleaning tasks:

Group-head cleaning (backflushing)
Solenoid-valve cleaning (backflushing)
Portafilter cleaning (soaking)
Filter-basket cleaning (soaking)
Shower-screen cleaning (soaking)


Product use:
1. Backflushing (only for coffee machines with a solenoid / 3-way valve):

1. Place one sachet (3.5 g) into the blind filter (the filter basket with no holes, so the water coming from the group head can flow backwards), then fit the portafilter into place.
2. Start the pump and let it run for 10–15 seconds.
3. Then wait 20 seconds.
4. Start the pump again.
5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 four more times.
6. Then remove the cleaning-agent residue from the blind filter, the group head and the rubber gasket.
7. After completing point 6, place the blind filter back on the group head and run the pump for 15 seconds.
8. Then wait 20 seconds.
9. Repeat points 7 and 8 until the water in the portafilter is completely clean.

After finishing the cleaning, we recommend preparing one espresso and pouring it directly down the drain.
2. Soaking:

Dissolve 7 grams of powder (2 sachets) in 1 litre of hot water.
Place the METAL part of the portafilter into this solution (the plastic/wooden part must not touch the solution), along with the filter baskets and the shower screen (and possibly its screw).
After 15 minutes, remove the tools from the solution and wash them thoroughly with clean, warm water.
Do not exceed the prescribed time or mixing ratio under any circumstances!
